PATESI KENYA

A combined intervention approach and the introduction of 3 new PATESI Foundation Charity Ambassadors has made this our most successful initiative to date.

Lack of menstrual products is a health concern in Kenya where period poverty disproportionately affects girls, women and other menstruators. In addition, menstruators lack adequate information and education regarding their developing bodies and reproductive health.

Poor menstruation health and management can have a negative impact on a menstruators’s overall physical health and self-esteem.

Determined to increase school attendance, eliminate stigma and enhance education outcomes; this campaign will focus on purchasing and disseminating menstrual pads, and providing menstruation and youth reproductive health literature.

Emanyinya Secondary School currently has 450 menstruating students. Without proper interventions and support, and due to period poverty, this number is at risk of decreasing during each school year. This is where the PATESI Foundation steps in.

In addition to the menstrual program, the PATESI Foundation has also implemented a maternity, newborn and postpartum-bleeding support program that provides after-birth care education and maternity packages in an effort to enhance positive health and wellness outcomes for new mothers.

New programs to be implemented at all target populations:

First of its kind and introduced exclusively by the PATESI Foundation; The LORNA ELINA (Dada Mwezi) program is a teen for pre-adolescent/pre-teen (tween) menstrual and youth health mentorship program. It enables teens to enhance their ability as empowering and effective change agents capable of nurturing meaningful connections and positively influencing their younger counterparts.

This program works alongside the FRANK FORD Project: a male mentorship program that dispels the reality of male toxicity & empowers boys to transition to adulthood with confidence and embrace positive masculinity.
